This new-build 1000 space MSCP is located within a future health & science campus on the western edge of Southampton, and the scheme includes the provision of new access roads and soft landscaping as well as the MSCP building. It will also serve the local hospitals, providing a park and ride facility for staff.

Fatkin worked within a wider team of specialist engineering, highways and landscape teams to develop the scheme, incorporating secure cycle storage for cycle commuters and bus stops and a sheltered waiting area for park & ride users. The deep plan of the MSCP presented a number of technical challenges relating to fire strategy and ventilation. In order to ensure the building did not require expensive and noisy mechanical ventilation equipment, Fatkin developed a mesh façade solution, offset from the building in key locations.

Fatkin worked with the client and contractor to address pre-commencement planning conditions, including providing additional detail around the innovative cladding proposal and sourcing material samples.
