Fatkin was appointed by specialist contractor Goldbeck to develop the detailed design of a new-build pharmaceutical research and development laboratory at a site in Leeds.

The building provides a new flagship facility for the company and enables them to consolidate their business activites onto a single campus. Fatkin worked closely with the client team to review their performance specification and refine the proposed layout of the facility to optimise their specialist workflows and manufacturing processes. As part of this Fatkin developed the design of bespoke laboratory benching and worked with specialist fabricators to ensure it could be delivered on budget whilst meeting strict technical requirements.

The site is located within a Conservation Area and Fatkin worked closely with a heritage expert to achieve planning consent. We tailored the appearance of the facility within the constraints of the contractor’s construction system to ensure it made a high-quality addition to the area.
