The new MSCP was the first step in a major regeneration scheme and includes an area of new public realm with flowerbeds, seating and feature lighting in a prominent location in the town centre. As the introduction to the town for most visitors and tourists, it was important to the Local Authority client that the development set a high standard for future development to follow.

The Fatkin team worked closely with the Planning and Conservation officers at CBC, as well as the car park management team, to ensure the scheme would achieve all planning and operational requirements. This includes a fully secured building, with keycode access control at the pedestrian doors and speedgates on the vehicle entrance and exit. The perforated metal cladding meets technical requirements for fire and ventilation whilst providing a subtle backdrop to the historic town centre and its brickwork buildings.

Fatkin provided planning and architectural services to the winning tenderer, Huber Car Parks, from initial conception through to practical completion and handover, working within a wider team of engineers and specialist landscape designers.
