A new MSCP providing 654 car parking spaces for staff, patient, and visitors (including EV charging) on a steeply sloping site at Dorset County Hospital. The new MSCP replaces existing surface car parks around the site and will facilitate the wider site masterplan to upgrade clinical facilities and provide new key worker housing. It is located on a prominent hill within the town and the design utilises the slope to partially sink the MSCP into the ground, whilst maintaining a natural ventilation solution.

The façade incorporates imagery of Dorset landmarks, voted for by the local community. It consists of bespoke perforated powder-coated metal panels and meets technical requirements for fire protection, free area, and light spill control. The scheme also incorporates natural stone gabions at low level and climbing plants, with new tree planting around the perimeter of the site and elsewhere in Dorchester.

Having previously provided architectural subconsultancy services on the earlier stages of the project, Fatkin worked with Willmott Dixon Construction & Huber Car Park Systems to deliver the scheme.
