Fatkin teamed up with Wayward, a London based landscape, art and architecture practice, to prepare a joint proposal for the open competition for a new public green space in the heart of the City.

Our concept was to offer the space back to the public as a ‘mother garden’ for a wider web of City green spaces, setting a precedent for future enhancements and forming the hub of a network for sharing skills and knowledge in horticulture and landscaping.

The scheme layered and wrapped the landscape and pavilion to create a spectrum of spaces for different events and settings, from bright sunlit performance and informal play areas through to educational workshop space and sheltered quiet zones for individual rest and contemplation. The roofscape of the pavilion would provide further public space, elevating people into the tree canopy and providing more opportunities for viewing and performing.
